What is Submagic: the short answer

Submagic is an online AI video editor that adds captions, B-roll and zooms to short videos for TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts. TURBO STUDIO S.A.S., a French company in Paris, sells it. A plan allows each member 15, 40 or up to 100 videos a month, on Starter, Pro and Business.

1. Upload a video that fits your plan's length limit: 2, 5 or 30 minutes on Starter, Pro or Business.
2. Pick the video's language and the number of speakers.
3. Click Generate Captions. Submagic's own guide puts the processing at about 40 seconds.
4. Fix transcription errors in the editor, and move or resize the captions.
5. Click Export.

Vertical exports fit TikTok and Instagram Reels, and Submagic can resize a video to vertical.

What Submagic does beyond captions: hook titles, B-roll, zooms and caption styles

A hook title is an AI-suggested opening title for the first seconds of a video. Magic B-roll is AI that adds b-roll clips to match what is said. Caption styles are themes, pre-designed looks for the text, and the premium themes are on Pro and Business.

Submagic is used for short-form video. A plan caps each video at 2, 5 or 30 minutes, so it suits clips more than long recordings. From Pro it publishes to TikTok, YouTube and Instagram, with one profile per platform on Pro and three on Business.

Submagic has no native phone app: a phone browser can upload a video, and the edit is finished on a computer. No plan on the pricing page is priced at zero, so the free trial is the way in without paying. Submagic pricing lists each plan on both billing bases.
