Best AI video caption generator: six tools on yearly billing

Best AI video caption generator: the short answer

For short captioned clips, the best AI video caption generator in this table is Submagic Starter, $12 a month per member, billed yearly, as read on 5 October 2026. For long videos pick Kapwing Pro, which subtitles up to 1,000 minutes a month, and for a standing free plan pick Opus Clip, which gives 60 credits a month with a watermark.

All six prices are on yearly billing, which is why Submagic's $12 can sit beside Klap's $14 and Kapwing's $16. The six count different things: videos, upload minutes, credits and media hours. The yearly rates do not buy a like-for-like allowance.

Submagic: captions on short clips at the lowest yearly rate in the table

Starter gives AI auto captions on 15 videos a month of up to 2 minutes each: you upload a video, pick its language and the number of speakers, then click Generate Captions. Pro is $23 and Business $41 a month per member, billed yearly. AI removal of silences and bad takes starts on Pro, and a video longer than 5 minutes needs Business.

Submagic's pricing page lists no free plan. Its way in without paying is a free trial of three short videos with no credit card, and downloads carry a watermark until you subscribe. The Submagic review lists every plan.

Kapwing and Descript: when the videos are long

Kapwing Pro subtitles up to 1,000 minutes a month at $16 per member a month, billed annually ($192 a year), with no Kapwing watermark and 4K export. Descript Hobbyist is $16 per person a month on annual billing for 10 media hours a month, which its page counts as 600 minutes. Its pricing page lists dynamic captions, which create animated captions automatically.

Pick Kapwing Pro when the job is subtitles on long videos, and Descript Hobbyist when the job is editing long recordings.

Opus Clip, Klap and Vizard: when the job is clips

Opus Clip Pro is $14.5 a month on yearly billing with 300 credits, and Opus Clip counts one credit per minute of the original video imported. Its Starter plan, $15 a month, is billed monthly only, and its pricing page lists animated captions on Starter.

Klap Basic is $14 a month, billed yearly, for 300 upload minutes, and Klap's home page says its clips come with subtitles. Vizard Creator is $14.5 a month on yearly billing at 600 credits a month, and Vizard's subtitle-tool page says it adds animated subtitles to videos automatically. Pick Klap or Vizard to pay by the minutes of video you upload.

Free plans and free trials across the six tools

Opus Clip, Vizard, Kapwing and Descript each have a Free plan at $0. Opus Clip's gives 60 credits a month with a watermark, no editing and clips that stop being exportable after 3 days; Vizard's gives 60 credits a month at 720p; Kapwing's subtitles up to 10 minutes with a watermark. Klap lets you make one video free, and Submagic offers its trial of three short videos.

The best free AI video caption generator page compares the free offers, and AI video caption generator cost per month prices the same tools on monthly billing.

Tools left out of the table, and why

Captions, CapCut and Veed are not rows because none showed a yearly-billed US-dollar price on the pages read. Captions' pricing page shows $24.99 a month for Max on its iOS plan and names no billing basis. CapCut's own help page says its Pro price varies by region, device and promotion, and Veed's pricing page showed another currency. Submagic alternatives sets each of them beside Submagic.
